Introduction

As I attempt to decide what to write, I think I should say who I am.

I am the father of two energetic children who enjoy cycling with me.  We have completed 90 km rides for charity together as a family as well as simply doing all errands for the week by bike within the confines of Guelph.

I commute to work by bike year round, and although it is only 4.5 km one way, it still presents a challenge during inclement weather.  My riding and life partner, Roberta Vriesema, is also a regular commuter and exercise partner.

The purpose of this blog will be to record rides and other fun or interesting events that occur in my cycling life.

The plans for today include taking my son to a friends house in the south end of the city by bike and returning home to prep for a 4 hour OT shift at work.  Should be about a 40 km day or so.  It maybe a cold ride, but we will see.

  1. It has been a long time since I thought of writing, and when I did I had forgotten how to log in to my blog. But I think this should work.

My current cycling goal is to ride 100 km a week during the fair weather months. The annual goal remains the same, 3650 km by bike in one year. This is a goal that is easily acheivable.

My rides consist of extended rides to and from the YMCA for workouts, family rides, and to and from work, church, doctors office, and other errands.

My family does not ride as often or as far as I do, however, we do ride as a family group. Roberta does occasionally cycle to and from work. And the group goal is to do more of this.

Well this is all for the night.

    Good night,

    Cheers
    Josh
